rear shock removal advise
I am sure there is a trick to getting the rear shock off without taking the exhaust system off. Can someone give me some tips?

If I remember correctly, you loosen the upper bolt first and then drop below the exhaust up pipe... but that may have been on the 12S...

There are pics in here somewhere showing my R1100S with the shock removed, but I recall needing to remove the cans in order to remove the top bolt.

Guess I should have specified that the bike is a 1200S and it is the rear shock, the front is no problem but the rear bottom bolt is blocked by the exhaust. I will look at the thread, thanks Bob.

I tried that Ralf but the swing arm would not move far enough up or down to give good access to the bottom bolt. I am hoping that i can avoid removing the exhaust system. Bob that thread is for the 1100S.

I've removed the R12S as well but dang if I can remember the procedure. Sorry for the mis-direct.
However, I recall the rear can is easier to remove for the R12S than the R11S....butta$$ed easy matter of fact, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Having a sigfile that shows what bike you have might also be useful.
