So Saturday while riding the bike just died and could not re-start. I checked the fuses and all four of them were blown. Fortunately I had some spares. I changed them try to start the bike and I saw the big wire that runs underneath the oil cooler smoking and melting! I shot the ignition off, checked the fuses and they were all four blown again. I then followed the electrical system point to point and found out the problem. The two little wires that connect the jack that brings electricity to the license plate light contacted each other creating a short. I pulled them apart, disconnected the jack, and replaced again all the fuses. The bike now runs but the electrical system sustained some damages. The left blinker does not work; it’s on all the time without flashing. The neutral light at times it does not work and the left ABS light at times stays on, although the ABS works just fine. So much for German engineering! You guys should look underneath the saddle on the left side and see how the plate light gets its juice. In deed a piss-poor design. Just check it and see if those two tiny little wires are in good condition.
Cool

Da(*^(^$$@#mn!!
That's a nasty one! Smoke = heat = melting: looks like your wiring needs replacement. Won't be cheap :-(( HJ
