HP 4: Wow!

Certainly not for me: four cylinders and water-cooled? No thanks! But at more than twice the horsepower and lighter than my BCR, all I can say is, "WOW!" All the boring details are here. You almost have to have a degree in computers: DDC, DTC, IDM, etc! Not for the backyard mechanic!

HA... the old BMW principle of taking things of a bike, giving it a different paint job, call it HP-something and then find some people gullible enough to pay more money for it.

Seems to work...

Well, in all fairness, the electronic suspension of the HP4 is not available on the standard S1000RR.

Other than that, pretty much everything except the paint job is available as option.

This is certainly not unique to BMW. GM did it for years with the Pontiac Tempest, Buick Skylark and the Camaro as did Ford with the Mustang. The K29 designation has been used by some on this forum to say that the R1200S and the HP2Sport are virtually the same motorcycle; however, for those who have experienced both the similarity ends quickly once ridden. Similar or even exact duplicate parts are always used to hold down the sticker price. HP's are more than cosmetic as you well know. Maybe the GS Ralle would fit your post.

The HP2S is not as you describe.

Here's what the folks at MCN think about it. "The clever suspension makes the HP4 handle better than anything I’ve ever ridden on the road."

German version of a boring UJM. No thanks.

ABS is all I would ever want on a bike....and at times even that is too much of a babysitter.

So the verdict here is that HP2 is more special than HP4? then again this forum might just be a little biased

Well the HP2Sport and R1200S do not share the exact same powerplant. The S1000RR and HP4 do?

We are all biased one way or the other. Most here to big twins, and almost all to Big Mexican Women.

Below is another "wow" on the Hp4...the sophistication of some of the people that it might attract...

As quoted "its hard ballin on a budget"
