Joke all you want about the Harley boys...but...
I don't know if you guys have noticed...
Over the years I have noticed a slight increase in awareness for motorcycles and its related margin for safety. Maybe it's just me or my environs, (most of my riding is non-metro,) but it seems more door-slammer pilots take notice for an approaching motorcycle. Of course, I am always prepared for evasive action. But if there IS an increased awareness, we should all be safer. Since the cruiser market has increased exponentially in the last 20 years, and other markets nearly flat, I think ALL motorcycle enthusiasts benefit from their presence. If you don't subscribe to my increased awareness theory, then at least consider how we could benefit by keeping the sport vibrant and fresh with diversity. Oh yeh, and plenty of parts-supply resources. What about the increased numbers help keep insurance rates competitive. And of course, we have another humor source. Don't get me wrong. I joke about the sit-up-and-beg riding position every chance I get. Maybe I'm getting old and soft. I may joke with my buddies on the outside, but on the inside I salute the cruisers. I love motorcycles THAT much!!! -salute

YAHBO buddy...you're killing me...
My keyboard is awash with tears. The last time I saw a bong was at one of your garage sales

Harley's ----
Just so you know- Honda USA outsold Harley this year in sales of bikes.
You might want to thank American Honda instead![IMG] Last edited by R-monster; 07-30-2002 at 02:24 AM.. |

My understanding of increased awareness of cruiser riders - mainly of course Harley - is that just about everyone knows that Harley riders are notorius for being self abusers ie: wankers - and so it is considered that at any given time both hands may not be where they should be to keep a motorcycle in control - hence car drivers give the waste of metal and tyres a wide birth.

Yes, Wankers
Thanks for the clear-headedness and summation thereof, sir. And for the larf thereto.
I kind of disagree that things are safer than they used to be. No-baffle no-brainers of any brand, sitting majestically and moronically, thrumming the noise at the red light in their half-lids, do nothing to improve four-wheelers' attitude towards us. Unfortunately most human beings generalize, so a "biker" or a "bike" to some "folks" are all the same. Given that, and the alarming increase of automobiles on the road, with the majority of the increase being those at the extreme ends of the age spectrum, you have what's it's always been: complete responsibility for one's own consequences. |
