Flattie, I read about the Whizmo/Gizmo Continental Divide Ride here somewhere but I only have a link to their site.

The Great Divide Tour - Introduction

I was inspired by their report and did that trip myself in Sept. 2005.

Great Divide Trip

It is a great concept for a ride. Ralf and I are going the try it again for our 2021 trip.

I just re-read 2012 too. Back when this place was really alive. Good rally too.

Not looked yet too busy with my alternator-turned-loomectemy but there was a load of threads with a lot of Doc-bashing going on.

Always found those soap operas a laugh.

Basic format was:

1. Doc says something about a BMW Model or part
2. Flamming starts and coninues for 10 pages as evidence presented and disparaged

Robust dicussions those - can't recall the Docs full name - back when Roger was around as a moderator.

Was the Doc Florida based?

Doctor Curve was a real character. I had the opportunity to ride with him in North Georgia He took me on a bunch of narrow rough backroads that were a hoot. He knew where the areas to be cautious were... where gavel washed into the road from recent rains, where the dogs were... Also took me to some areas with high speed sweepers that had little traffic. Had a blast riding at beyond a sporting pace.
He was a very colorful and unique guy, but he was an artist, and they tend to be unique people. I think he got most of his criticism from engineers. Obviously different ways of thinking.

If you search "Jim Roche artist" there is a wikipedia page on him.
