fir those of you with carbon fiber wheels

for a 12S. BST lists their front and rear wheels for BMW 12S at 8.8 and 12.1 pounds, respectively. BlackStone Tek– BST – BST Wheels for High Perfomance and Drag Racing

I'm wondering if this is accurate because the forged wheels I just bought from PVM weigh 8.5 and 8 pounds, respectively. That includes bearings and spacers for the front wheel.

That sounds high. Do a search for a thread I started called "BST in the house" I weighed all the wheels there.

I saw that

It was more like 5-6 pounds if I remember correctly. I wonder if they have beefed them up and if there is someone on the board with a more recent set.

I wrote BST with no reply.

I have PVM ( forged stock HP2S) and BST's. I can't remember exactly - but they were very close. BST's get a big nod over cast R1200S wheels but weight alone doesn't justify the cost over the forged wheels.

BST weights from Droptarotter:
6.1 lbs and 8.92 lbs

Christmas Arrived Early

Compared to cast wheels:

Both wheels were weighed with new tires and the fronts had BMW rotors on the BMW wheels and the Alth rotors on the BST wheels.

Front had a difference of 1.740 grams or 3.83Lbs less for the BST's

Rear had a difference of 1.860 grams or 4.1Lbs less for the BST's

Total difference is 2.990 grams or 6.59Lbs for the BST's.

6.5 pounds of rotating mass is a huge difference.

And Shredder's findings:

according to my incredibly accurate bathroom scale:

Stock front 11.5 lbs
stock rear 12.5 lbs

BST Front 7.5 lbs
BST rear 9.5 lbs

I bet his wife wants an a more accurate scale.

very helpful, thanks

Looks like shreddr weighed the front wheel without the rotor carriers, with bearings and without the spacer. I would guess the BSTs are about half a pound to 3/4 pounds lighter in front and a pound heavier in the rear.

My front with bearings and carriers are 3.2 kgs or 7.17 lbs

My rear is 4.0 kgs or 8.96 lbs
