Replace front Frame-neck

Hello,
Steering column snapped off from the neck, after a sliding fall on black ice. Could this bit get welded or, have it replaced?

Would a neck from a different model fit this, at all ? There are 1100R necks available on eBay, less dear to these.

Don't know the condition, but it's cheaper:

edit: Nevermind. Not all the photos were loading on my phone. This neck doesn't look so good.

three ways to find out:
1. ask here (usually someone knows)
2. compare part numbers
3. sit 'em side by side.

the one i see for sale is probably less than $200 with shipping and fondling.
if it hasn't been tweaked, seems like it'd be worth the coinage.
i don't think i'd ever be comfortable riding with a patched-up one.

The R1100S is unique and special...which means the upper frame piece is unique to this bike. Buy a used one on ebay and get your bike back together and on the road again.

Damn, I wish I could follow that advise.

I'm quite alright, just few bruises easy enough for the elastoplasts.

Oddly, it wasn't a particularly cold night. Apparently, there was a broken pipe or something causing a water stream to become the adversary. Worst bit was to get the bike back on from the lay. Riding shoes are utterly useless in such a situation. Far too slippery than I'd imagined. Well, off to get this fixed over the holidays.

Thanks for asking though.

I had a Buddy that knows how to weld Aluminum put the little Tab back on. Not sure why others say not to weld it back on? Just be sure the placement is spot-on else the fairing frame will be out of correct position.

It's been 7,166 miles since I hit the Deer that broke it off last year (Personally found out why Wisconsin ranks #7 for Deer Hits...), a trip to the Texas MotoGP is in there too. Glad I had it welded and saved my money.
