Daytona Gearing for the R11S?? For Street ?

Hello brothers. If there are any of you that have wanted to try taller gearing on a R11S but not had the rear end..........here is your chance. I am starting to get rid of my performance parts from both airhead and oilhead days. I have two 2.53/1 ratio R11S rear ends that are geared taller than the stock 2.75/1 units most of us have. With these, the top end is increased as are the MPG readings. The bike will run smoother at any speed because the engine is turning fewer RPMs. Please contact me if you are interested in one of these units. One has two races on it........the other has only one race on it. Both are in non-ABS cases and are completely new inside. The cases came from low mileage R11S units. Let me know if anyone wants one of these rare parts. Expensive, but the only way to get 150 out of your stockly geared R11S.

Will the innards transfer into ABS cases?

Curve,
you gotta be one of the few people who have 2.53 gearsets 'in stock'. And one of the fewer who actually run up into the 'funny numbers' on their speedo. Dunno how guys with stock gearing are getting along.

It's a shame you didn't post 3 days ago I'd have had one and I'll be in California at the end of the month hand luggage would have been fun, but I've agreed to do something here.

Thanks for the feedback guys.........and perhaps there are still some "top end" lovers out there who want to see how an old R11S can be made to run flat out. Thanks for the kind thoughts Mike. I will never forget the times trying to catch you in the mountains and roads north of Morganton as we streaked 181, double island road, and other "black snake areas" that only you knew about. We lived!

If someone wants to build their own rear end unit..........I also have 2.53 rear ends here that can be switched over into their R11S cases, for a lot less money than the Race Units I mentioned above. I have lots of stuff for the R11S bikes and will be listing it all soon. The east coast timing association, bonnieville, and the lake Mirage flats are all places where one can take their bike for top speed results, and its fun. If you need gearing, I have it here at the shop, one way or the other.

A 100% stock R11S in perfect tune will run 140 to 143 on dead flat ground at sea level. The exact same bike will run 148 to 151 simply by changing to a 2.53 rear end.........it just takes longer to reach that top speed. Thoughts?

Thoughts?
A turbo busa with a small rear sprocket...200+ mph; just saying, a sprocket is 50 bucks.

That busa is around $14k and the turbo is another $3500 in parts. 200mph gets pretty pricey.

Gearing a bike like the S taller is a f oxymoron, sorry; total f nonsense.

You will ruin acceleration and drivability to get maybe 10 mph of extra top speed for what, 155mph? Chinese scooters go faster than that!

You can buy a turbo busa here in FL for 5K by the way; it's been the same bike forever, no need to drop the cash on a new one if top speed is your game. The S is just too tall, too heavy, way underpowered for any speed work. it's a sport touring bike, take it as it is.

BTW, historically, I happen to gear all my bikes shorter not taller...and I am the one who invented SPEED!

D!
Any 5th grader can figure out that with 100 HP bike you are only going so fast. The point is, the OP posted offering a taller gear if anyone wanted it and you come back with buy a Busa if you want to go fast. That's what is total F'ing nonsense. Why post. Maybe you need to cut back on the weed and jacking off.

At least I'm not deluding myself about going a zillion miles per hour on an underpowered air-cooled boxer! Nor I would f'ck things up by putting a tall gear on a bike that it is actually very well geared from the factory. And we're not talking about a sprocket change here, it's a whole rear-end swap.

In any case, f'ing go for it and let us know the outcome, time to kill seems is all you got!

By the way, have you ever seen a mule winning at the Kentucky Derby?

There is a classified session for that, did you miss the memo?

I guess it's time for weed and jerking off...

Two issues a guy comes on here selling some good kit and he gets all this c**p you either want to buy or you don't end of.

As for doing 150+mph(actually I had my k1200 on the stop) we were doing that coming back through Belgium this year from Assen that was just to avoid being tailgated at 130.

Kroberts, I am pretty sure that was not directed to you on the first part. Part 2 is just making a statement regarding the 150 mph number.
