Weird pattern we're in. Rain all weekend and in the 50's. I guess it's indian summer.

Hi all...

Just been reading about the weather an forecasts of extreme cold blast through some of the US in the next few days... Saw a article on the news about fire fighters in New York fighting a building fire, water freezing as they spray, there gear icing up an stuff, Crazy times, the weather patterns are sure changing, we are having record highs, as is Australia, an rain which is much more akin to tropical downpours, sharp and heavy, more flooding an stuff...

Take Care keep warm an stay safe everyone...

Jeremy

Well a few hundred miles from the city, they get my weather 12 hours later and usually 5-10 F warmer.

But been a roller coaster in the NE. A week ago 45 and sunshine, steadily got colder all week, last night saw -7 F (-22C) at 11PM, at 8 am this morning was up to 20 F (-7C), beautiful sunny day, maxed out at 34 F (1 C). Here is the graph for the next week, like I said a rollercoaster!

That doesn't sound nice at all. Bad to hear of the fatalities that the cold weather has caused.

All the liquids here are too thin. It has been over 40 for the last week. Today, my ute vapor locked. Using the diesel priming pump didn't work and that being the limit of my diesel knowledge I called in a diesel fitter. He tried bleeding the inlet lines but that didn't work, nothing worked, so we gave up. Try again tomorrow when the engine has "cooled" down to at least ambient.

All in all cold events kill far fewer than heat waves in the US.

Yes auto fatalities do happen from cold and slippery roads, but far fewer than there are on major Holidays, it just gets sensationalized more. I guess we expect hundreds of deaths on our roads on a regular yearly Holiday, but not on the random weather event.

Get real about this.
Most is the news media looking for any connection to the "danger weather." They are under orders to find something!

So, someone dies while having a heart attack shoveling snow. They could have just as easily been tilling their garden.

But... any connection possible.

The irony is that research vessel that got stuck in the ice (and then the other icebreaker). Researching global warming.... Although the media spun it to call them "tourists"

Researching global warming....

Now the buzz word is Global climate "change". The earth is supposedly a static environment.

Hmm..............., the main stream media I heard has always said it was a research mission, the first I heard the "tourist" reference was listening to one of the radio talking heads and his agenda was clear, to stir up $hit.

In keeping with international conversions, that is 2 short of an Islamic Martyr's worth. (according to the common misinterpretation)

AZ-J 01-08-2014 09:15 PM

Go ahead! I resemble the remark about females when it is the weather we are talking about.

I cannot help if I chose to leave NY 30 + years ago to live here, and you did not, Tough luck!
