Hats Off System
Hey bradzdotcom, I checked out this web site from your New Year's resolution post... can you tell us a little more about this? Outside of the UK, is this used much in the U.S.? Are paramedics here generally aware of this? Sounds like a great idea. Thanks.

AMA racers are not so keen on the idea yet, as the AMA officials have written it into their rules for next year. on the surface it looks good, but it might also be people resistant to change. considering how infrequently racers need medical assistance requiring helmet removal, this seem like a good street rider safety mechanism.

yep, some of the riders don't want to use it.
same thing happened when the HANS device first showed up. the biggest problem with Hats Off is educating the paramedics and others on how it works. we can do that in race scenarios during pre-event briefings, but it's pretty dang hard to spread the word on the streets. short of a big old instruction sticker on the outside of your helmet, i'm not sure what the solution is, but for a measly $20 or so.....it sure seems like a good idea. I've got a bunch of them on the way to try out. ...brad
