Looks great the bike they should have built 7/8 years ago now BMW have to go through all the drama of dragging customers back who left when they built the R1200s but hey better late than never.

Agree Chris. And they should also introduce something like that using the S1000 engine. Unfortunately, the ST market is small, almost a niche. Touring riders want a bigger fairing, straighter riding position and more luggage capacity while sport riders want more power and more aggressive handling.

They have because there is no space (all space is taken by the cooler for the watercooling). Moreover modern forks work quite well and you will probably not feel much of a difference.

The RS is along the lines of the original R100RS, then the R1200ST. Looks like it will use normal removable side cases just like the two bikes mentioned.

With good removable Bags, looks like a real Sport Touring winner.

i think those rider who are used to the telelever actually will feel a significant difference. the telelever system is an anti-dive or no-dive system, meaning the front of the bike doesn't compress under harsh braking like conventional forks.
aggressive riders who use the telelever to their advantage by going deeper/braking later will have some adjusting to do.

same with the tubular steel frame verses the aluminum frame. the reynolds wrap frame is more rigid than the new steel frame. some people (like me) prefer a steel tubular frame that flexes, others don't.

nice looking bike, but they lost brad points with those "let's ride 600 miles to kansas for coffee" tires.

and what's wrong with those german dudes? they couldn't find a BIGGER muffler to hang off the side of it?
they should research the specs on the average american home, because that muffler is almost too big to stuff in the garage attic after you rip it off the bike.

Looks like a full-sized bag on the muffler side though, right?

BTW - the new RS weighs 520lbs wet, 18 liter tank, 60.2 inch wheelbase and has a 27.7 deg fork. Center stand optional.

I kinda dig 'em. The R motor has always been my favorite and these just look like a lot of fun.

I'll miss the simplicity of the telelever but as they say....time marches on... The new integrated abs, traction control electronics pretty much do the same thing but I can't help thinking about the nightmare of fixing the failed electronics 10 years from now!

Tires are a cheap and easy fix.

Whats wrong with those German dudes? .... It's the same thing for the Japanese dudes! I mean come on now! Have you looked at a Kawasaki or Honda lately? It's called noise pollution and they really and I mean REALLY take it serious in Europe. My suggestion is...... Buy stock in Akrapovic. They are going to sell a lot of exhausts!!

Have you heard the GS/LC recently with stock exhaust? I have no idea how they ever got noise approvals for that. Not that I mind, but it is a LOT louder than you'd expect from a stock can.
