The "Well, I bought it" R1100S - Reskin

Hello Gentlemen -
Firstly, hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with friends/family and sincerely wishing you a healthy, safe, and prosperous 2015.

I've been enjoying my prep since you've last seen it. Many, if not most recall my post last year on my new acquisition. For those who didn't see it, it's right here:

Well, I bought it - ('03 r11s)

Anyhow, with several machines at my disposal I haven't accumulated all that many miles since the purchase and subsequent re-do as I have yet to discover a way to ride more than any one bike at a time, however - I have indeed added some doo-dads.

From a mechanical/performance standpoint I've fitted an 'Lazer' prom, 'Lennies Rocket Sprockets' and an SJBMW 'SuperDuct' and 'Powerfilter'. A very worthwhile expenditure as the gains in performance across the entire rev range are considerable.

I also added a 'Ventura Enduro-Rally' bike pack system which suits my requirements beautifully without being cumbersome or dimensionally obtrusive.

Aesthetically, the biggie is obviously the reskin to the BumbleBee motif body panels which I purchased right here from a pelican. With the black powdercoated wheels and valve covers I think it looks pretty neat! With well under 20k on the odo I look forward to many more miles of spirited motoring. I'll be swapping back and forth every once in a while just for the change but I am interested in your valued opinions so - take a look at the latest iteration and tell me what you think?

best,
J.S.

My first S was 'bumble bee' and it was my far my favorite scheme on the 11S. Looks fantastic!

Looks nice and purposefully modified to meet your requirements. Glad to see there's still aftermarket support for our BMW R1100S Motorrad. My '99 model has 88k miles now and I've made a total of 34 modifications.

Very nice Jozef!

I have to be honest, I was afraid that when I opened this thread you were going to be putting the bike up for sale...

Well done, although I'd have kept original paint...what's a 'Lazer' prom?

Lazer chip (eprom) for their exhaust, it installs in the ecu in place of the stock chip. I have one too.

Yes well Brad you know life is simpler/slower here in the Corn n' Bean Fields but hopefully I'll catch up some day. For sure this Forum has been a great source and I'm thankful for all the contributors.

The photo of it when silver is the OE factory windscreen. The Bumble Bee iteration is an MRA tourenschiebe. I purchased mine from family overseas but there's also a fellow on the German eBay site. Here's a link - he ships worldwide:

Yes, Steve.

There's also an outfit down in Florida who is a distributor. Neither of them had these in stock and they weren't helpful in ordering one either which is why, after becoming frustrated I sourced mine from overseas. This was not only the case with my current r11s but was also the same issue well over a year ago when I tried to order one for my r12s. Both times they were willing to take my credit card number but could only speculate on delivery time. Perhaps they have improved their customer service - it certainly could not have been much worse.

I've had good luck with Twisted Throttles customer service. But I haven't ordered anything for a R11 for a time either.

In all fairness, I don't recall who the distributors were aside from both being on the east coast. Perhaps it was not Twisted Throttle though that name seems familiar.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies on the windshield. I've also had good luck with twisted throttle and I thought it might be an MRA.

I'm probably going to ride the R11S down to Daytona this year. Since it's cold, I bought the biggest Cee Bailey they had. However, I would like to have a smaller, better looking one to run around with in the Summer. The one you've got on yours might fill the bill.
