2015 Top of the Rockies Rally 7/16 to 7/19/2015

Well,

Time to make plans again.

I've got my room reserved....

Goalposts are covered in snow and ice as we speak, but will thaw out by July.

I know it's early, but if you aren't into camping now's the time to make a hotel reservation...

I mean, we know
The bands will suck
the food will sucky
da beer too expensive
and it will rain all weekend, with a chance of tornados

I feel like KTM is the way to arrive at a sub rally to a BMW rally.

I looked at the pictures at the link. Do people actually carry lawn chairs to these things?

Being a BMW rally, the chairs are usually carried and set up by our butlers.

You're half right Bob. Yes, all the dorks have Kermit chairs. So 1999. The Cool Kids carry the light weight alloy chairs and are waiting for the first carbon-fiber ones.

I thought frogs sat on Lilly pads. Thankfully I am not an old guy… Alite Mantis chair packs up small for easy storage when traveling lite on the KTM, or the BMW.

Probably will be on the GS if my back will take it…
I have a new riding friend…. Couple weeks ago when getting ready for church, I remembered my jeep was low on gas… so I rode the GS to Church which I seldom do, because it messes up my beautiful hair. I pulled into the parking lot… a moment later another red GS12 pulls in and parks a few spaces behind mine. There are very few GS's around here so I walked over to say hi. He is visiting, and here to meet his college age daughter who moved here to attend Speech Pathology school at UCA… She arrives a minute later and he introduces me to his daughter… When she hears my last name, she states that she went to college at Fayeteville with my oldest daughter Samantha.. and she knows my younger daughter Melody… I excuse myself and go to church… then after first service he tracks me down, and asks to chat… his daughter is going to the second service as well, and he needs to kill some time. So we go out to the patio and drink coffee. He is a 60 year old surgeon (looks and talks like Dlong from here at PP) in Batesville about 100 miles north of Conway… ( He also is a white water Kayaker, and Backpack hiker) and loves riding but has never been to a BMW rally… He has Alaska, and various other stickers on his saddlebags so I am guessing he gets around. We get along pretty well, and he wants to go to TOR with me this year. After texting my oldest daughter to ask her about the guy, she tells me she, and the guys son, and a few other students rode together to Alaska, in 2010 for a summer project they did. Small world! So… I may have a new riding partner… He seemed excited to be able to have a mechanic to ride with…Wants me to grease his splines… LOL… I told him to look in the maintenance schedule and see if it really needed done. I also told him I was more likely to need his services than him needing mine on a road trip… HA. Anyhow I am pretty sure we will ride the whole way this year rather than trailering across Oklahoma.

However if He doesn't go.. and my son decides to come, we will be on our R1100S's… Much better for my back.
