Legalize Lane Splitting in Texas

If you're in TX, PLEASE take action and encourage your Texas friends to do so as well.

https://cqrcengage.com/amacycle/app/write-a-letter?3&engagementId=77645&ep=AAAAC2Flc0NpcGhlcjAxCKZr2mpxJuLTq2u-0mMXffUSrk9BA4C-9FpkXDuHq0QNvESjxEFEZXyxzp_kBaHBlXgWHEjL4NnUfAW7HR rULLhO1tBlXkJNZfBQJwfoxI0&lp=0

And, although I don't use Facebook, here is the link to an organizational page. I'll make an exception for this topic.

yes, we have lane splitting here in CA.
i use/abuse it about three days a week.
i'll put on my rain gear and ride in a downpour, leaving the pickup truck at home in the driveway. i can't sit caged in traffic. makes me crazy.

there's different methods and techniques for lane splitting. there's even unspoken rider to rider etiquette while traversing the steel canyons.
it's been proven safer to lane split than to sit in traffic on a bike.
it's been proven that if i have to sit in traffic, i'm gonna kill somebody. probably me.
by lane splitting i'm helping to keep the murder/suicide numbers down.

besides getting one more cage off the road, (making room for more cages to clunk along), there's a lot of entertainment value to lane splitting.

you see things in cars, sometimes things you're not supposed to see.
some good, some yucky and some that would merit one of those letters that starts out with "I never believed your letters were true, until it happened to me. I was..."

it's also fun to watch an out-of-state cager cope with bikes splitting lanes. scares the hell out of 'em. kids wave.
same with riders from out of state. they try the lane splitting thing, usually two up with expedition level luggage, becoming rolling roadblocks for the rest of us.

i hope texas gets lane splitting.
it's the right thing to do, and for a lot of people, its that final straw that gets them up off the couch to finally go buy a motorcycle again.
that'd be a nice sales spike that the street bike industry would appreciate.

I learned how to street ride in California on my /7 airhead BMW (quite nimble for me at the time), now flash forward 10yrs and my return to California.... With my now wife two-up loaded down on the GSA... Hahaha just had to laugh at that comment.

I'm with you Brad, no way can I sit in traffic... It's even worse on the bike, full leathers, 100* heat. I hope this goes through, but I'm not holding my breath.

I dont see the rednecks here being really happy about someone passing their F250.

Not a big fan of rednecks.

I dont think it's going to end well for more than a few guys on bikes.

really kenny?

ya gotta catch 'em to beat 'em.

actually, i think that the guys around here in the jacked up trucks are probably the first to move over and give a little room to get by. seems like they're paying more attention than the average road zombie.

I totally agree with this opinion. Same in the southeast. Unless they growed up with it....they wont get it. And not to just single out rednecks...there are others that won't like it....the "I'm better than you and have more reason to get home before you MF'ers" we have lots of those in charlotte. If it wasn't for business interest and family and friends my azz would be out of here.

That move warranted ticketing and was considered newsworthy in the UK? Hell, I'll take living in the dark ages over a police state anytime.

A police state??? no one carries a gun them or us but I guess if we spent as much time as you lot do shooting each other under taking would become a minor detail guess it just indicates what a measured life style we have.

As for filtering in traffic? if you can't filter why would you want to ride a bike that's the whole point of riding one so you get to the front of the queue or don't queue at all

exactly.
if you can't cut in line and VIP yourself to the front of the queue...then it's almost not worth riding, 'cept for the fun factor.

if i had to crawl along instead of splitting lanes/filtering/sharing, i wouldn't be there at all.

I learned to lane split in NY before it was illegal. *****, I still do it here, sometimes when no cops are around.
