Fairings
Trying to remove the fairings on my 1100S. I got all the screws out but I cant get them off at the little plastic latch at the top of the tank. What am I missing? Does that latch screw off somehow?

Squirt a little silicone spray around it. The rubber grommet can stick and not want to come out of the hole. Don't get too rough with it. There is a rubber piece that expands in the holes of the fairing pieces when the lever is pushed down. The latch just flips up and then the rubber should elongate and reduce its circumference, and pull out of the holes. Lubricating it with something will help it slide out without breaking anything.

Thanks Bill. That did it. I needed jiggle and work it a while but it finally came out. Thought for sure I would break it but it finally came out. Thanks again!

Fairing - Rubber
When you put the fairing back on the bike - put some silicone grease on the rubber. It will preserve the rubber, but it also makes the rubber slide easily when installing and removing the fairing. The first time I took mine off - I couldn't believe how difficult it was to get apart. I refresh the silicone grease every time I remove the fairing.
