Motronic open-up

Guys, how in the hell do I open up the motronic. I've got the box in my hands but I am afraid to really pry on the case halves. I dont want to warp it. I want to see if it chipped. Are bike DMEs like car DMEs? My car had a clearly marked Conforti chip in it.

Yes, I am aware of ESD safety.

Motronic

There should probably be 4 torx securitiy screws on the unit, 1 on each corner.

I've opened a couple, not hard. I used visegrips to get the 4 screws out and replaced with stainless steel button heads. Then you need a screw driver or two and an exato knife. Use the screw drivers to start a gap to get the exato in to start cutting the silicon bead seal. As you work your way around cutting as you go, it will open more and more and get easier and easier. You can easily permanently bend your cover, so just bend it to flex it, not permanently deform it. You'll get a feel for it quick. Good luck.

The factory silicone sealant is super strong. Try prying apart a from a corner. Insert something like a thin plastic wedge or plastic knife to hold the 2 halves apart. Keep doing that along the edge till you feel comfortable separating the 2 halves. Hope this makes sense. tjs

I just opened my 2001 Motronic last Sunday for the first time. Just used two flat tip screw driver and slowly pry apart the seam until rubber silicon slowly gives way, the are aluminum sides in there so you don't have to worry about accidentally pushing in the screw driver too far.
