Which battery strap should I get?

I just bought a new battery for my 99 non ABS. I cheaped out and got this one from eBay UPG 12V 22AH BMW R1100R R1100S R850R 51913 Battery | eBay mentioned in another post here because I am not sure if I am going to keep the bike. I love it but the 3-miles of dirt/mud mountain road I live on renders the bike useless much of the time. It looks like a GS might be in my future.

While installing the battery I realized the rubber strap that holds the battery down is missing. I was set to order part # 61212306844 as it was the only part listed at one store. I then noticed on another site that there are two straps listed. Part # 61212306844 is listed as being for the ABS bike or heated grips etc and the # 61212306747 is listed as being for a bike with a smaller battery and none of these options (which my bike does not have). I think the battery looks pretty big. Which one should I get?

Thanks for any input.

New battery.

Old Battery.

You now have the larger battery, so get the strap for the ABS/heated grip model.

my expirence with these batteries is they are about 3/8 of a inch shorter than the large bmw
battery which is what you took out. so the long strap is not tight.

otherwise they work well. you do need to drill out the holes for the larger size screws.

There are two part numbers, one short, one long hold down strap. It appeared the short one came with the BCRs as they used a smaller(shorter) battery to keep the weight down. I've ordered both and only got the short one on two occasions so the long one might not be available, but worth a try. Maybe just a parts glitch. I gave up and made a small metal extension for the shorter strap.

Previous owner had installed a larger acid battery on mine, so he hacked away the metal caging and hold the battery with cargo straps (like what you would use to secure a kayak on roof bars or so).

I replaced the battery with a smaller model Odissey, it is still held in place with straps.
