adding some color to silver SBX
Hi all - Happy New Year!
With snow, ice and salt on the roads, I have been sitting in my garage contemplating my SBX (silver). I picked up a front fairing, tank cover and seat cowling on Ebay and am thinking about painting them the same blue as on the Replica (Pacific Blue?). Maybe add the 'blue rectangle' decals on the side panels and/or powder coat the wheels blue? Any opinions or advice? I am not trying to 'create a Replica', I just need some color. .....Or should I just leave it alone and 'just ride it'? thanks, David K. NO colour
Hi there
please David do NOt give your bike any colour There are enough colcoured bikes out there lets just keep our clean. You should consider white front and rear turnsignals and maybe some black or carbon details. see you Coos |
I have a silver SBX too, and have been ruminating about painting it. All sorts of ideas but no decision. When I first set my heart on an S, I wanted a red one, but the SBX was too good a deal.
Does anyone have pics of custom paint jobs they have done? |

I did the carbon pieces for the seat cover, front fairing, and tank cover. Looks great. Sorry, no pictures.

Hi there
I also have a couple of carbon parts and black headcovers and wheels. Just keep it that way. Or you must make a full race S out off it. see you Coos |

Saw this one on the web site Webby mentioned above. Great paint job, but I want to know where the quad pipes come from. Any ideas?
|
I am thinking of a flame job on the silver background, if I do it i'll post some pics!

Quads
I believe those are the exits for a Shark exhaust. And I think thay are Austrailian made. I recall seeing these from a site that compared exhaust notes on several different brands. Search this list for more info.

silver
Hi there
yes they are Shark exhaust see you Coos |
Hey Josey, are them there those K&N filters strapped directly to the throttle bodies? Looks to me like the air box has been removed. Wonder what it runs like and who did the chip?
|
Yup. Sure looks like it when I blow the pic up. Never even thought of doing that...
Looks like, maybe, another winter project...:D Anyone try this before? what were the results? |
Looking for ways to spend the $2500 I am saving on my SBX...
Got the CB parts except for the cilinder head protectors and chin fairing. Got a quote to add some color, basicaly repaint the bike, cost all I saved from rebate. Is this in line or do I look dumber/wealthier than I am. The shop seems very profesional and have done excellent work. Trying to justify spending 30% of bike value on apperance. Paint job is checkers like SBR and stripes like older S in two colors, keeping greyish background and CF naked.  Henry SBX 03 CLK430 |
Color
Mabe some simple stripes using quality vinyl. Thats what a lot of grpahics are today. And if ya dont like them after a season, you can pull them off and do something diffrent.

Hello,
To each his own on the color, have seen some absolutely hideous bikes on this site.Have a Mandarin that will have the carbon F belly pan and all panels except tail piece and two main tank pieces painted black. If I don't like have all the stock pieces. Take care John |
That Silver R1100S wouldnt last long in the heat of Georgia or Florida. Am I seeing correctly, the driving lights inserted in the oil cooler section? Would not fair well at all with someone who commutes in traffic. I have a hard enough time in summer keeping it cool with a wide open oil cooler let alone obstructing the air flow. I bet the bike runs hot. Wish we had oil temp gauges from the factory on the S bikes.

Bobby
I mentioned the same thing a while ago. Coos said he moved the cooler up to the 259 cutout. I would think it needs a fan to run in traffic to be safe. |
Bobby
I had done the same double take on that deal, however the "R259" which I/we thought was paint on letters is cut out so air flows in there. DH |
