Another Rear end leak 1100
I have a small leak right where the arrow points. I looked at a parts fiche but I canīt see any oil seals on either side. Is it just a busted boot? What to do. Thnx.

It could be the transmission output seal or the bevel gear seal in the final drive. I have had leaks at both places.

There are two seals, one a the back of the transmission, and one at the front of the final drive. If either one of those leaks it will cause oil to accumulate there. If it's small I would try to ignore it until you have some other reason to get into those areas.

I'll partially agree with Jim about ignoring it. But only if it's the seal at the rear of the transmission. On my R11S it was the seal at the pinion gear and it was caused by the gear mesh in the final drive being too tight.
If I hadn't sent the final drive to Anton, it could have destroyed the entire final drive. |
