How to remove reset Button on instrument Cluster on the R1100S

Anyone remove the mileage reset button

EZ-RIDER 04-20-2017 04:15 PM

I am taking about the reset trip-meter
Button

EZ,

That button actually is screwed onto its' brass shaft. If you apply a bit of lube beneath the knob, it will turn and not bind against the rubber protective boot beneath it. You could use a drop of WD40 or even alcohol as it will evaporate and not contaminate or collect dirt. Same for screwing it back on the shaft and inside that rubber boot.

EZ...how convenient!!!

I took this during a recent teardown. You can see the threads on the end of the reset shaft.

Any advise on the Speedometer 😳

How can I help? What specifically might you be wondering?

Check out my "Has Anyone Removed their Tach Needle?" thread for a few more details and comments regarding a Rockster speedo working in an "S". The two speedos sure do seem identical to me - from the back and the front. With, of course, the exception of the gage face.
