Help clarifying caliper bolt torque values

I've found two different torque values for front & rear brake caliper mounting bolts (2004 BCR): 40 Nm (PDF service manual) and 30 Nm (bikes owner's manual). Any idea which is correct?

Front bolts are M8 and rear is M10.

Thanks

BMW Motorrad Repair and Service Data says: 21 NM for the front. 40 NM for the rear. 2cnts from tjs

Use 40 Nm and it will strip, it's just a matter of time...ask me how I know!

Just keep in mind you're threading a steel bolt into soft aluminum...

I'd suggest helecoil all the caliper mounts just as a precaution.

Update. Nitro is right. I looked in an old 04 Maintenance Instruction manual. It says 30 Nm for all 3 calipers. I remember using 22 ft lbs. which is close. Never had a problem using that figure. tjs

Thanks all - I'll go with 30 Nm
