Help clarifying caliper bolt torque values
I've found two different torque values for front & rear brake caliper mounting bolts (2004 BCR): 40 Nm (PDF service manual) and 30 Nm (bikes owner's manual). Any idea which is correct?
Front bolts are M8 and rear is M10. Thanks

Use 40 Nm and it will strip, it's just a matter of time...ask me how I know!
Just keep in mind you're threading a steel bolt into soft aluminum... I'd suggest helecoil all the caliper mounts just as a precaution.

Update. Nitro is right. I looked in an old 04 Maintenance Instruction manual. It says 30 Nm for all 3 calipers. I remember using 22 ft lbs. which is close. Never had a problem using that figure. tjs

Thanks all - I'll go with 30 Nm
