Alas - Selling my 1999 R1100SA

Yep - after several years of fun, and many memories, it is time to move on. Ok, OK , so there is a woman involved (and she does not ride - two face-plants from bikes took away her desire). Anyway, I am parting with my "bumble bee" described below.

1999 Silver-Mandarin R1100SA - ABS, heated grips, tank and saddle bags, cylinder cover guards, Staintune exhaust, Carbon fiber signal pods and starter motor cover, Ohlins front and rear suspenders, Throttlemeister, recent annual service, new K&N airfilter, new tires (less than 200 miles), MINT condition, $9,000.

Don't want to burst your bubble but you might be lucky to get $6,000 for it. Realistic used prices have been discussed repeatedly here.

List it on the BMW bikes and parts for sale board
List on IBMWR site.
Maybe list on Ebay.

And sell off what you can as far as accessories seperately.

$6,000 sounds low to me for an ABS/heated grip S, I guess depending on miles. If it has 10,000miles or so, I don’t see why you couldn’t get around $7,000~$8000 for it, maybe more if its clean and you have all the original parts.

As mentioned earlier;
Reinstall the shocks with the original ones and sell the used Ohlins for $800 (I'm sure someone here would gladly give you that amount).
Reinstall the original exhaust and sell the used one for $600
Reinstall the original signal pods and sell the carbon ones for whatever they are worth.
Advertise the bike without bags and tank bag. After you and the buyer negotiates a sales price on the stock bike, you could offer the bags to him for $350~$400 and the tank bag $150~$200 (if you have the rain cover, center piece and straps to make it a back-pack) or just sell them here or on the IBMWR.

That's a good $2000 in parts, so worth the effort of reinstalling the original parts. Then sell at $7,000 stock (pending mileage), and you’ve realized a gross of $9,000 from the sale.

IMHO an original bike can sell for as much, if not more than a moderately modified one (that means replacing the KN filter with an OEM version). I will look for a used S once I return to the States in just over a year, I prefer an all-original bike (except Ohlins would be a big plus for me) over a modified one. A modified bike to me means a bike that’s suspect to have been used hard and abused (doesn‘t mean that it was abused, but the impression would be that it was).

You could probably get one of us to buy the Staintune for $400 or so plus our stock system, not that I'm suggesting anything. Then you could put the stock back on your bike.

I would be interested in your staintune if you sell them separately depending on price.

I concurr with MarkC. I'd be more interested in a bone-stocker that's been serviced regularly.
I'll be selling all my aftermarket stuff when it goes.
Hard to believe though, that the market is that soft.
$9 large doesn't sound outrageous.

Just Sold an 1999 R1100S-A

I just sold mine for $9K, it was Black, ABS, lower CF BMW cowl, higher bars/screen--3,400 mi--perfect--extended warranty for $9,000---it seemed like a pretty fair price for both parties--Took a while to sell though---
Hate to say it--but my Honda Blackbird has 50% more power, same weight, and is alot smoother than the 1100--costs 50% less too---I guess Im just not a BMW weenie

I guess 3400 mi in over 3 years ......you did buy the wrong bike. I hope the new owner enjoys it. You have to ride them 10,000 before they start liking you
