After reading the Race Kit thread, I called PitBull this morning and was told:
1. Yes, they have a stand which works on the BCR w/ lower pan in place. 2. No, you can't buy it yet because it is to be sold only thru BMW dealers. As of now, BMW NA has only ordered enough to get them thru the race at Daytona. A larger order for nationwide distribution is expected after Bike Week.

I just did the same thing and was on my way to post the same info. Good news indeed. They said that they are already made and are just awaiting the order.

Our race stands should be here today for our race bike, anxiously awaiting UPS. A couple of notes,.........the rear stand will not work if you have side bag mounts, front stand should work on any bike, but not sure if it is positive locking(ie keep the bike from tipping over while on the front stand only will post info later) They are also sending a temporary side stand which will act as a support so to speak and fall off when the bike is stood up straight. Thats all for now, will post when they show up.

BMW ATL,
Any more word on the Pit Bull stands for the BCR? I am interested in some sort of stand to keep the bike upright while sitting in the garage. Also, is it good, bad or indifferent for the bikes with no center stand to stay on the side stand?? Does this give the bike uneven oil distribution??? BP "03 R11S BCR"

if bmw was concerned about their bikes living a life on the side stand, then they would have many decades to deal with the issue and they would not produce bikes without center stands. that being said. the only time i would cringe at the idea of the bike living on the side stand would be for long-long term storage. the right cyclinder could dry out so to speak. if you ride even once a month, even once every two months, it should not be a concern. there may be a bit of oil burning if it weeps past the rings.
for $100 you can get a motorcycle lift at costco or sears and it is great, but will not work with a belly pan but makes for an extremely stable platform to wrench on the bike. just recently took the front wheel off to get a new tire fitted. the bike sat very stable even with the front wheel off. you can even strap the bike down for added restraint. the bit bull stands are very nice and depending on the price, i still may order a set. repoe3

Anyone have a theory on why BMW would have Pitbull make a stand for the S then not sell them to their customers? I guess the same would go for all of the boxer cup parts as well...

They are gonna sell them to the public soon, but as mentioned, they wanted to get them in quanities for the Daytona race. It is funny though, because they(BMW) went into this exclusive deal with Pit Bull, you will pay way more than you would if you could buy it direct from Pitbull I'm sure.......But hey it will have the BMW logo on it! Thats worth more!
I bought the hydraulic stand from Sears, as Repoe, and we got them for 99.00 on sale. Came with a set of tie downs and holds the bike really nice. For the BCR crowd, you'll need to remove the belly pan though. The nice thing about the hydraulic stand over the other types is, you can have both wheels off, but still move the bike around in the garage. The hydraulic stand has wheels and two lock down feet, to keep it from moving if you don't want it to move.

Yeah,
I received the sears stand for xmas (on sale in their tool club for 89 bucks I understand) from a couple of cool ladies (mom and sis-in-law, still haven't induced the mrs. to supply useful widgets) I've not even tried in on the S yet, just old airheads, but it's pretty handy. Would be nicer to move around if all four wheels pivoted, but is a lot of bang for the buck overall. Very nice to drop the rear wheel from long and/or skirted rear fenders. Saves a ton of time. roger

I talked to Charlie at Pit Bull as well. It seems that there will be two different stands for the S. The one that we saw at Daytona for use with the belly pan has spools that mount up on the rear section brace. The other stand, that is a better all-around stand that allows one to access either the front or rear wheels, utilizes spools that fit into the holes vacated by removal of the stock center stand. Only problem is, PB can't sell either of them direct, so we'll be held hostage by our dealers to pay a marked-up price.

Hold your horses....
There has been a re-design on one of the BC stands, additionally, the deal is yet to be approved by BMW Motorrad USA. The deal should be wrapped up by April 1st and will also include stands for "civilian" BMW's also. Cheers, Robert Foster

Thats fine, so we wait, I would just like to see us offer Bobby some business. Has been a straight up guy on the recent Ohlins group buy.

Appreciate the gesture Dave. We'll see what happens when all of this comes to fruition.

Bob,
Can you clarify if any of the Pitbull rear stands will work with the saddlebag mounts. Would be a candidate for a group buy if it will fit. Henry

Well I have seen two different style saddlebag mounts. The earliest style has a taper on the very forward bottom attaching point with the two bolts as opposed to the bag mounts on my bike which are flat where the two bolts come up from the bottom. The spool receiver attaches with two bolts to the tabs for the side bag mounts. In the case of having flat bag mounts, just add longer bolts and the spool receiver should work just fine. You will have a little more lifting to do, but nothing drastically different. However the saddle bags will need to be off as far as I can tell because the PB stand is too wide and would impact the bags on attempting to lift.

Boxercup,
Nice photos. Have you tried out those spools on the track? They look like they would drag in the corners sticking out as far as they do. Eron |

Eron,
Not even close....Remember those heads sticking out..... As far as the fit issue with the saddlebags, Pit Bull/BMW Motorrad USA are in process of coming to terms on a complete line of stands for the complete BMW line. They will have stands that will work with saddlebags.....If all goes well. Will let you know as soon as the deal is done. Cheers, Robert Foster

Robert,
I am aware of the heads sticking out... I have ground some material off my brack pedal and foot peg on the track (without the curb feeler) which look like they would touch down about the same time as the spools but aren't as solid. Eron |
