Replace and Reprogram ECU on E70

Does anyone on this forum have knowledge or know of someone who has knowledge of how to replace and reprogram an ECU for an E70? I'm particularly interested in additional troubleshooting steps before determining whether this is indeed the problem. I have and use BMW software and tools and can read other modules fine, but engine module appears to be toast.
