Just bought a 2006 BMW X5 and noticed the day I got it that the sunshade doesn't close all the way, leaving about two inches of space. The only way it will fully close is if it goes into vent mode. Why is this happening, seems odd. Thanks

The sun shade guides may be worn of broken. If they are making contact further back than they should, the shade will not close all the way. When it is fully open, check that is stops at the correct location.

That's strange.
When the roof pops up to vent mode I guess it's not supposed to close all the way.

But looks like it's the opposite for you.
