Question Need taller gearing on 96 Z3

Hi guys, been reading alot about diff change many are swaping for shorter ratio.

I actualy need longer ratio...

car is 96 Z3 was 1.9L swaped for a 2.8L M52, then a C-1 Procharger was installed on pushing 8 PSI.

Now tires keeps on spinning on hard accelleration... !

Would anyone tried to swap ring and pinion from different diffs ?
I found a used 1997 328Is 2.93 rear diff, casing does not fit but does the ring and pinion could be exchage ??

Thanks

Ben

An M52 with 8PSI? I think you'll find that your tires will spin with any diff ratio. Thats a pretty powerful combination in a lightweight car.

I think I remeber hearing somewhere that the Z3 used the rear end off the E30. If you are lookinf for tal gears, maybe the diff out of an 325e.

Probably because the diff itself is so easy to swap out. I dont think I would bother changing out the ring asnd pinion, but try to find an entire unit that will swap in.

Ok, so I checked my sources, the Z3 does in fact have the same rear end as the E30,l so what you will want to do is try to find a diff out of a 325e which has a ratio of 2.78

Check to see that the saes are the same, then swap out.

Try eBay or depending where you are, local junkyards, I've found that www.recycler.com is always a good source for parts in the Los Angeles area..
