Unhappy Heater knob broken

I just purchased a 01 3.0 roadster, 53k miles on behalf of my parents. This morning I went to adjust the temp control to heat, it gave some resistance, so I went to cold and then back to heat and snap. I've looked for posts on this and the only suggestion was to look at the knob itself, so I'll do that tonight. Is there anything else, did I break a flap or is it nutted up? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance.

Rich,
You probably just broke the plastic clip that secures the 'heat' door control to the knob. If you pull the stereo out, you can see it with a mirror. My wife's car had this problem about a year ago. Had to order a new cable to get the clip. I removed the clip from the new cable and installed it on the original cable. You have to do some major dash disassembly to actually replace the cable.

Thanks, I did take it apart and it was the plastic nipple that rides within the knobs channel. I drilled it and put a very small screw through it, it's working for now. THanks for the reply!
