Common Z3 Problems
So here's the deal, after restoring an old CJ7 Jeep, 914 Porsche, and 944 Porsche I've gotten fairly well versed in the problems common to older cars. I'm looking at the Z3 now and haven't really found a comprehensive list of common problems. Fifty and hundred thousand mile problems are high on my list.
I'd like some input on what's happened to you guys. Specifically, the 1.9 and 2.5 models. I had the opportunity to drive both and they're both great cars. The 2.5 is an absolute blast in every respect but the draw of the 1.9 is certainly strong in today's gas market. And really, after the 1.7L 914 just about anything feels like it's got a supercharger. Thanks in advance! |

Now many Z3 guys here. I dont know Z3's either. From what I have heard Z3 rear subframes are a weak point.

Wouldn't be able to direct towards a good source of info for the Z3's would you? I've looked around and it seems exceedingly lacking.

Z3 seat fix
Call Pelican Parts. They are just beginning to carry the parts for the seat shifting problem. In all Z3's the seats will eventually start to move forward and back on braking and acceleration. These new bushings will solve the problem forever. They fit perfectly without sanding. If they aren't sure they have them, tell them to ask Eugene. He knows about them. The dealer want to sell you a whole seat rail for $400-$800. The whole job takes about 45 minutes for both seats. I've done it several times.
