Z 3 1998 1.9 liter Damaged seat for water pump
Z3 1999 BMW 1.9 Liter 4 Cylinder
While removing broken tap from the bolt hole for the water pump, my dremel tool ground into the water pump seat (i.e. the engine block) leaving a 1/2 mm deep groove, 3 mm length, 2 mm wide next to the bolt hole (1 o'clock position) the groove is on the outside of the bolt hole (at the 2 o'clock position). The groove does not extend completely across the seat surface which is 10 mm in width. Is there a gasket material that will stop future leaks or is a metal filler material recommended as the water pump does not have a gasket. |

A picture of the gouge would help here. I can't reccommend anything based on your description. I need to see it.
You may need to get creative with JB Weld. Uh, the water pump does have a gasket. There's an O-ring that goes there. |
