Only key locked in frunk 987.2 Box S

I am in a real predicament with this car. The only remaining key was left sitting on the frunk floor while hooking up the battery tender. Closed the with lid, walked in the house. Later realizing I had forgotten the key, I returned to find the fkn car had locked itself. After managing to pop the drivers interior door lever, the parking lights flash for about 5 minutes which I assume means the car is disabled by the alarm system. The frunk will not open using the regular switch, or using the dead battery procedure from the owners manual. After some research I found out about the emergency release pull cable located inside the driver side lower wheel well cover (see pics). Pretty exasperating because after all this trouble, the frunk still will not open when this cable is pulled. About 4 inches or so of cable pulls through but then nothing. I’m afraid that pulling any harder will break something. Has anyone here ever successfully used this emergency opening cable? | ||

				frunk cable experience

Hey everyone, I would love to hear from anyone who has personally experienced opening the frunk using the hidden emergency release cable/wire. I pulled it very hard and nothing happened. It’s hard to believe the engineers of a 75K vehicle would design this. | ||

I have to use the emergency cable more than once i my Cayman...becuase of a dead battery, and broken door lock.. You really need do give a strong pull, its harder than you think.. but it will open.. Then you get to replace the plastic and carpeting the cable displaced from being so taught.

On my '08 the cable was wrapped around a wire harness. No way it would work. I ended up feeding power through the lighter fuse and the let the switch by the driver seat work. What a beotch.
