Window drop issue
Hi all, I am having an issue with the passenger window. When I pull the door handle the window drops as expected. The second the handle is released the window goes back up. I have cycled the top a few times with the window in open and closed positions to try and reset it but to no avail. All other functions are working properly ,opens & closes with switch, drops when opening the top, closes when the latch is engaged. I am suspecting something to do with a sensor/switch associated with the door handle? I appreciate any ideas. I really thought I was done with projects until spring! Bill

There are two door handle micro switches, one inside, one outside; it is one of them.

The micro switches in the door handles (exterior and interior) are temporary switches and I believe it is the door latch that reports whether the door is open (e.g. keep the window down) or closed (put the window back up). So I believe you have a faulty door latch mechanism in that door. Question - when you lock the car, does the horn beep twice?

Just been through this myself, except my passenger door wouldn't open.
The problem was that something was jamming the door, so it never really closed and therefore lifting either handle wouldn't open the door. The only way was to force it shut (there was a small amount of movement) and jiggle the handle. Eventually it came open. So if your window is going straight back up, does the door open? If it does then it is the switch on the door mechanism that is not showing the door as open. |
