986 Yr 2K 2.7 E-gas system
Hi all - is there a brain out there who has an answer to my problem.
On purchase (s/h), with the engine hot, the engine revs would die when coming to a halt, and sometimes give a little 'puff' of revs then settle at 600 -750 rpm. This went on for some time then steadily got worse, until the car would stall when coming to a halt at say a junction. Sometimes the puff of revs would catch and hold the idling revs, sometimes a stall. I have done most of the things advised.... Plugs and coil packs all-new - New Crank Position Sensor - New airflow sensor x2 (1 cheap & 1 expensive! ) - Throttle Body replaced (s/Hand). There are no air leaks on the induction side of the system. Someone did mention the air-oil seperator but I don't have any other of the faults associated with the AOS. I am considering a modification to the e-gas throttle potentiometer (?), if there is enough space to incorporate it. This would consist of a machined part attached to the pot body with a screwed part acting on the cable quadrent, allowing a physical adjustment to the quadrant's zero position. Thus allowing a physical adjustment to the idling rpm. I would relish any thoughts, comments ideas! Its a fault that really spoils the driving experience. Of interest - my last Porsche was a1954 356A bought in '69 for £300 - sold in '72 for £80! .... What sort of mug am I? ....lol...lol John Davie - Huntingdon UK |
