97 Boxster convertible top issue

97 Boxster. Top will go up and down fine until the clamshell hits the motor micro switch. Then the motor will only going one direction. Keeps closing the clamshell. Doesn't matter if I press up or down. Light on dash never goes out. Parking brake ok. B-Piller switch has the correct continuity. First post. New guy. Thanks for any advice.

Hi mate. I bought a boxster recently.
I wanted to open a new thread. I have the same problem.
I have a 97 boxster, I upgraded the frame+soft top with a 2004 top+glass window, I even replaced the transmission gears with improved ones +00.
Few hours ago I installed all again. Top work fine he open, but when I close him and if I open again,my motor work only in close position no matter what button I press and then rods pop off.
Sensor from top inside mirror,I think It's faulty because my windows won't go down, but I don't think this is the problem
I don't have any lights in dashbord and I don't think this is normal.
What can be wrong and what can caus this? I didn't checked the relay.
Maybe a forum mate can help us both!

Sorry your having the same problem. Not a lot of info on this. I think your right about the mirror sensor not causing the problem. My windows do drop. I do have top light on dash that never goes out. Makes me think it's the micr switch on the clamshell. When I remove clamshell and don't trigger the micro switch, the top will work, but it won't stop (Full up or full down). Would like to hear from someone before I buy the $100 micro switch or $250 on a relay.

I suspect is the microswitch from B-pillar, this is the next step for me. Too bad, like you said,we can't find too much info.
I found only a thread from a guy who said, when the top come in close position, the sensor from b-pillar give command to relay that the top is closed and relay should somehow reverse the process after this.
I don't even know how to take off the b-pillar ornament without brake it,I only see a 10mm bolt .
After this ,the logical step is to look at relay.I think I will look again in one week when I will have some time and I must order too the microswitch from windshield. Please let me know if you find something meanwhile.

If you can’t find much into, you’re not looking very hard. Between this site, 986forum and rennlist, pretty much every Boxster top problem has been diagnosed and solved.
