new boxster owner, could use some help

just bought a 2003 base model that has been sitting for quite a while.

it gonna need a lot of work. but I am asking for general advice on first step issues.

right now it looks like water has been getting inside due to a hole in the top.

the computer on the floor behind the center console is a bit oxidized but not rusty, has a coating of white power on the surface.

right now I know the rear spoiler is stuck in the up position, and the windows and frunk release buttons do not seem to do anything.

wondering if all of these are controlled buy the same computer, and is it the one I mentioned?

TIA

Usually, the first component damaged is the Immobilizer under the driver seat from water intrusion. Remove the seat and take the Immobilizer out. It can be sent in for repair along with the ECU from the rear trunk and the key(s), to get fixed. They can also make another key for you if you only have 1 key. Several companies do this service. Just do a Google search on read some reviews before deciding who to use.

Several videos on YouTube can help you with seat removal to get to the Immobilizer. You can then separate the two halves of the Immobilizer case to see how the board looks inside. Sometimes, you can clean them yourself with isopropyl alcohol or denatured alcohol. Again, there are lots of videos on YouTube.

For getting rid of and preventing corrosion and resurrecting electrical components, I have had remarkable luck with spraying the components with a chemical called ACF-50. This stuff is designed to fight corrosion on aluminum components of aircraft (inside wings) but excellent on electronics or connectors. It serves as a water displacement as well. The white powder is corrosion.
