2014 Cayman S
New member alert! I’m about to plunge head first and buy my first Porsche. I found a clean, low mileage 2014 Cayman S (manual). Price sounds reasonable. Is there anything I should be worried about? The car is in NJ and if weather permits I’ll be driving it back to Iowa.

Quite a few years ago I had a Boxster base 2001 with manual transmission. I drove it in winter. I bought new snow tires for it and it had good traction. Having said that my Boxster had only nine inches clearance so I had to choose the days when I could drive it without it bottoming out. You might get lucky and get it all the way to Iowa with no problem. Or you could put it on a trailer or ship it. That would be a great trip in summer but could be challenging in winter. Expect possible damage from salt and gravel in winter.
Cheers, Guy. Consider getting a prepurchase inspection done on it by qualified Porsche technician. Last edited by recycled sixtie; 12-24-2024 at 12:27 PM.. |

i would also advise a pre purchase inspection - PPI _ before buying it. There are many possible issues one might discover. You can find a Porsche shop near to the seller and ask him to take the car there for you, and the shop will provide the confidential report to you as the customer paying for the inspection.
Also the roads will be covered in salt and sand this time of year. As stated I would look for other delivery options. Good Luck. Post a pic! Last edited by djnolan; 12-24-2024 at 02:26 PM.. |
