Resale Value of 2006 boxster s for LN IMS solution

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 987.1 Boxster S and I'm curious about how the IMS solution impacts its resale value. While it's clear that the IMS solution is crucial for the 986 models due to their higher failure rates, I'm wondering if buyers of the 987 Boxster are as concerned. Given the relatively low failure rate of the IMS in the 987, I'm not sure if investing in this upgrade will pay off when it comes time to sell the car. Any insights on this would be greatly appreciated!

I would still think that it would improve the sell-ability of the vehicle, if not the price.

I beg to differ. If you have a 2006 car with a retrofitted IMS Solution, that will mean that the engine was completely disassembled in order to install the IMS Solution. Everything would then depend upon WHO took the engine apart and put it back together again............

If it is done professionally how much more can I expect to get out of the car? 5000 - 10000? I know it is hard to give an exact amount, but a ballpark would be good to know what I am getting into.

You will get something, but it is very hard to speculate how much without knowing the condition of the rest of the car, and again, who did the disassembly. On 986 cars in otherwise good condition, a couple of grand was not unusual.

Your larger issue is that I do not think you have any concept of what the installation is going to cost. Realistically, you are going to spend $8-10K, plus parts, to do the swap, which you are NEVER going to recover upon sale of the car.

Why are you considering the swap? Or why was the swap done?

What else was done while the swap was being done? Could be anything from nothing to AOS to a major rebuild.

Flushed? Oil changes and frequency since change?

How long ago?

What documentation and or warranty conveys?

Those are questions that a owner or buyer might ask and take into account.
