Radio Code Not Working

I unhooked my battery. Now, my radio does not work. I have the code card with the code. But, when I punch in the 4 digit code, nothing happens. It tells me to "wait". I have re-unhooked the battery and tried it all over again and nothing. The manual says it shold just automatically turn on. I would really like to listen to some music again. Please help.

Thanks
Wayne

Covered in the radio manual. From my failing memory.

If you do not enter the proper code 3 times in a row then you see wait. Then you have to have the ignition and radio on for 1 hour before you can enter the code again. Enter it way to many times and the the power has to be on for 24 hours.

Hope you have the correct code.

Remove the radio and get the serial number off of it.

Call the dealer and give them the serial. They will get you the proper radio code.

Many times, the radio was replaced under warranty and the radio code card is no longer valid.

Hold down the TP button for 10 seconds until you see BECKER in the display. Then rotate the right knob 2 clicks clockwise and the serial number will come up. See if it is the same serial number on your code card.

If the numbers are different then you have the wrong card. If so, there is a guy on rennlist who said he cracked the Becker radio codes. PM me the last 4 digits of your serial number and I will ask him for the code. Jeff

Hey Aloha,

Is there a universal code? Mine is missing and the radio is asking for the code. It was purchased from a sports car dealer, not a Porsche dealer, he thinks he has the code. Also, other than the code, is there any other problems when disconnecting the battery? Does it cause any computer problems?

Ferrara_racing 03-05-2005 04:47 PM

Toolpants,

I think my seller is going to get nowhere in finding my radio codes. If I pull the unit, can you get my code too? I have no book with the car radio information. (car was a lease return). there fore no information on how the unit comes out. Are there din style pins like the Blaupunkt under the faceplate?

Tool Pants 03-05-2005 05:11 PM

PM me the serial number and let's see if it works. The code calculator does not work all the time.

You need the radio removal keys if you need to pull the radio head to get the serial number.

It is easy to display the serial number on a 220 radio. I forget how or if you can do it on the older 210. 1998 came with 210.

I'm having the same issue. Car sat... now it won't take the code. I know it's the right code though with the right radio. Now what?? There has to be some master reset code...

Any advice?

I finally got my codes and radio working properly. When I put the code into the radio it did not power up or start working. When I put in the code and then activated the track search rocker switch the unit came right on, don't know it this was serendipity but it's worth a shot, good luck. I love Porsches but what the factory did with the Boxster radio is crazy. They have no anti theft on my 17" turbo twist wheels but found it necessary to make playing the radio a pain in the nutsack...BTW, I have the "upgraded" sound system and frankly it's not worth stealing anyhow....

Tool Pants,
can't thank you enough... the code worked an now I'm not just driving with the wurr of my engine... although not having a working sound system gave me and my Boxster some real us time:)

Thanks Again... Hershey I come!!

We were told that Porsche dealers now do not give the radio code number out over the phone, even if the vehicle owner calls. You now have to drive to the dealer to have them set it. Great if you live next door, if you live 3 hours from the dealer not so good.......another dumb idea.

I wonder how long it will last as used car dealers start calling Porsche for radio codes on cars they are trying to sell out in the car-lot?

Tool Pants 04-18-2005 07:47 PM

You can get the code over the phone if you have a really, really, nice dealer. The 800 number still works if you have a dealer code and password.

The bigger question is, why anyone would want to steal a Becker.:D

The radio codes should be available pretty easily through your Porsche dealer...

The following decoder helped me recover my radio code for my 99 boxster:
Porsche Resetting Radio Codes

Why not just point the folks to renntech where if you give them your serial number they will return a good code. Just read the post that appear on the screen entitled "Lost Radio Codes". No need to go through 9 choices as with the decoder.

Decoder worked fine for me , first try
