smoke at startup new boxster S

I was told that a couple of seconds worth of blue smoke at startup is not a defect nor is it repairable by the dealership. The service manager told me that is the nature of the beast with horizontally opoosed engines of this type. Anyone have the same experience?

Due to the fact that the engine is horizontally opposed, a small quantity of oil collects in the cylinders when the car is sitting idle. It burns off the moment the car starts again, causing the bluish\whitish smoke on startup for a few seconds - ususally never more than a minute (though it will last a bit longer in colder climates)

Perfectly normal, nothing to worry about.

Welcome to the club.

Yeah, same here. Hardly ever see it now. We drive the car once a week, on average. Sometimes 2 weeks. Must have to sit for a longer time than that.
