Ever have the darn Boxster horn just start blowing while it was parked? I did. I decided that the part to replace it was probably big bucks so I decided to just tackle it and figure it out. First, find your radio code. When you have your radio code in hand, disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. Remove the center of the steering wheel by using the star tool (Home Depot has a multi-tool for cheap) on the two screws on the backside of the center of the wheel. The airbag assembly comes off easily (remember you disconnected the battery so you don't get the airbag in the face or worse). You will see some brass bolts holding the cheap aluminum bracket down which has black rubber grommets. This fine piece of aluminum floats above the horn trips. Unscrew the brass bolts. Fill the rubber grommets with bathroom silicon caulk, clear is nice. Not too much...just fill the indent on the grommet. Reassemble in reverse. VOILA. No more horn tooting on its own. Cost: $3 bucks for a tube of silicon. Enormous satisfaction. It works. The lousy aluminum piece with the grommets just dries out.

Actually, the part to replace it (airbag frame) is about $65.
