Anyone ever had a broken axle on their boxster? Well today i took a sharp turn going about 30 mph, and my car spun and hit the curb breaking my axle and everything attached to the rear left wheel (so much for changing the brake lever plate). I was trying to figure out what happened and i figured out that the street had salt and gravel. Plus i had an appointment tomorrow morning to change my tires, what a luck. Anyway i talked to the insurance and i told them to take it to the porsche dealership to replace the broken parts? Anyone knows how much this bill might come out to be? I know that i need new shocks, springs, axle, brake line andcaliper and rotor, and one bbs lm 18 in wheel. I will find out tomorrow and i took some photos, so i will post them up also.
Some days could be better than others!!!

OUCH!!!!!!
Have the car checked carefully. All of the suspension components on that side are now suspect. You are looking at an easy $3K - $5K in repairs. AFJuvat

$6200 estimate
Finally i got the insurance's estimate, so far its around $6200, the body shop should start working on the car tomorrow. The person responsible told me that its probably gonna be more. He definetly said that the axle was broken, so hopefully they'll finish the car within two weeks. I was also thinking of upgrading to a boxster s, maybe a to a 911. Anyway i'll have time to htink about it.

Two completely different cars. I would drive the S before buying. There are performance gains in the S over the standard, but can you use them on the street? The resale is better, but you're already in a Boxster and are losing value. If youtrade, you will lose even more money for a small gain in HP and brakes.
I'll admit that while in a pack of healthy newer and older 911s, my Box won't accerlate as fast, but, with the exception of 993s>, I can keep up in the corners. Performance cars today are not made to use 100% unless you are on the track. They are too good for the roads we use. We don't have an Autobahn. ![]() I'd enjoy the car the way it is. Just my $.02. |
