Cruise control won't work.

Hi guys.

The cruise control wouldn't work when I removed my 1997 boxter from storage. The dealer said it isn't uncommon, but they can't quote the repair. I plan to try to fix it myself. Any common problems you guys know of?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for the help. I posted on Rennlist as well.

Fuse good as well.

Any ideas?

Does the on\off button still function?

Replacing the stalk switch is a common repair.

No.

There is no indication that the stalk is sending any info at all. I press the button and nothing. No light no nothing. Have you heard of this being a real problem?

Thanks.

Find a shop that has a PST-2 or PST-3 - have them hook up the computer and make sure that the DME and the instrument cluster is coded for cruise control - it has to be coded in both places.

If it is coded, you probably have a bad stalk switch and it will need to be replaced.
