Boxster Top One Side Will Not Go Up
I'm on a roll with this car, last week it was, and still is the dreaded rear main oil seal. This week only one side of the top will go up.
Step 1. 1. Getting the top up manually so you can have time to sort out the problem, order the parts ect, drive around, vallet park, ect. Tools needed: Hammer, any type will do. Screwdiver,1/8 flat tip at least 9 1/2" long, I used a snapon SDD1410. Screwdiver,5/16 flat tip 8"long, snapon SDD8. Flashlight Someone who can listen to you cuss out porsche to hold the flashight. snap off the plastic covers on each side between the window and the fender, these covers you can get to when the top is down. Remove the plastic ball joints ( red or white ) with the large screwdiver and hammer. Now the hard part, find what looks like a small shock that attaches to the rear deck lid toward the rear of the compartment. You are looking for this goofing looking clip that holds it in place. Remove this clip any way you can without breaking any thing except the clip it self and push the pin out of the hole and the rear deck lid will now to free to move manually. ( I completely trashed the clips getting them off ) With two people, one on each side raise the deck lid. Now you have access the the top, which is now free to go up and down manually. My car it a 97, What are the current options on repair parts for the cables? steve egger maui |

The dealer should still have the older style drive cables.
