Audio install advice

Hi,

I have a 98 boxster with the Hi-fidelity audio option. I've bought a pair of Mb Quarts and an Alpine head unit to install.

My question is, whether i should/can run the speakers through the existing amp under the front hood, therefore using the existing wires and using the preouts from my headunit? What is the impedence for the original equipment, as I've seen funny impedence on becker units in mercedes.

Would I be better off just using the headunit's inbuilt amp? I've heard the nokia amp under the hood is a piece of crap.

Thanks for your help.

If the wiring doesn't match, (connectors) you will have a hard time using the amp with the new head unit. The amp output for the porschwe radios uses a floating ground. It can be rewired, but it will take some time.

The amp isn't bad - it works well for an open top car.
