So, I'm thinking about placing an order

... it's a long story, but it's getting to be that time. If I do, I would like to get a new one, European delivery, the whole nine yards. Sure, I'd rather a 911 Cabrio, but I just don't think there are the funds for that!

Also... to be very clear: I am keeping the '74 911 Carrera Targa. I just haven't decided if I'm going to leave it white like it is, change it to Mexico Blue, or perhaps paint it its original color, viper green.

That said, I'm wondering... potential timeline right now is May, and considering a European delivery will add six months to the deal that means I'll probably go with a 2007 model.

Has anyone heard any rumors relating to what Porsche has in mind for '07s? Should I push things forward and go with an '06?

Are there any options that are "must have"? I'm leaning towards an S, because I want to go pick it up and don't see that option available on the standard anymore... So that secures the six speed, but locks me into the active suspension, which I had hoped to leave off in order to save weight. Are the sport seats worth it? Bose sound system? Litronic headlamps? Anyone with direct experience with the navigation system? If I do go with the nav system, can I use it in Europe as well as in the States, or am I "locked in"?

I'm thinking I'll only get the chance to do this once, and I want to keep the car for a long time. So what do you all think?

Definately an S model. yes to litronic, sport seats are nice.

Active suspension is worth it.

Bose sound if the stereo is that important to you. Remember it is a convertable.

Navigation system is so-so. You usually get the disk for your area, but you have to buy the others. You'll probably find that you do not use it nearly as much as you think you will.

The crests embossed in the seats look good IMO, the center console in body color is cheesy. Sport Chrono option is nice if you get the full package that lets you put the system into sport mode. - I think that is on the S as standard.

wood, carbon fiber, or aluminum finish in the interior is a matter of taste. It looks good with certain color combinations, but not others.

19 inch wheels are nice, you can do just as well on 18s. Pick what you like.
