So why is the Boxster board always dead?

...and the 911-944 boards are really busy?

Is it becasue the Boxster is mainly driven by non enthusiasts?

Could it be that the Boxster is still new enough that we are out driving while the other boards are populated by people trying to get there cars running? I know I was much more active when I owned a 914.

Is it becasue the Boxster is mainly driven by non enthusiasts? - I'm guessing that's part of it.

- I'm guessing that's also part of it.

Incase you were wondering, I don't own a Boxster, but would like to. Been wonder the same question for a while, hoping it was the last answer more than the first.

I'm enthusiastic about my Boxster and even though I was BBQ'd by my 944 bretheren, I think the change has been awesome.

I love my 02 S because it is a sports car. I've seen passion in cars from the guy driving his beat up Honda all the way through to the drivers in ALMS. Just because you buy a 911 does not automatically make you better at our hobby. The Boxster S, until this months issue had the fastest slalom time ever recorded in Road and Track. Is that not a true enthusiast car? If you enjoy the looks go for a test drive and forget what everybody else thinks. The Boxster is the Porsche entry level car but it's one hell of a entry level car.

I think its simply that the Boxster hasn't been around for nearly as long as the 911s and other Porsche. Consider the vast amount of topics you can find on the 911 boards. Quite frankly, there isn't a lot to talk about with the Boxster line-up. It's so new. And it's so good as it is.

As for enthusiasts....they'll come around. Just like any new Porsches.

Well, I am and will always be a 911 guy. I've owned somewhere around 12 different 911s and currently own a '73 Carrera RS clone. However, I've just recently purchased an '02 Boxster S, after selling my RS America, and am having a blast. This car is powerful, responsive and a joy to drive, top or down. In fact, my good friend is looking to buy one after driving mine. This is not an "entry level" sports car. True, there are many Boxster owners that I don't consider to be "Porsche Guys", hence the lack of interest in a board like this. That should not detract from the passion many of us feel for these cars. I'm very glad to have taken the plunge and bought one of these examples. Keep up the good posts on the board as I enjoy reading them. BTW, installed my EVO high flow air intake this weekend; it was a pain but the sound improvement was well worth it!

Hmm. A lot of Boxster owners from the rust belt. IL, OH, MI, NY. Do you guys drive your cars year-round? Do you all garage your cars or do any live outside?

I have an '84 911 and she gets the garage. Any second P-car would have to live outside.

The reason I bought a Boxster was so I could drive it year 'round. I wouldn't do that with any of my 911s. (..now, if I could afford a newer 911..) And always garaged so the snow could melt.

Yes, when I had the Boxster, I bought another set of wheels and put Dunlop Wintersport M3s on it. It's brilliant in the white stuff!

Mine live in the garage. Our two Grand Cherokees suffice the rest of the time.

I have never driven any of my sports cars in the snow. Not out of fear for their tractability but rather to avoid the small stone chips and salt baths.

I wouldn't mind driving mine in the snow if it wasn't for all of the d@mn salt they use. That stuff is a real car killer.

Driving cars in the snow can be fun though...
