Cayman cabin pressure?

Actually first question is... is Boxster Haven the right place for Cayman questions?

2nd. I test drove an 07 Boxster and 07 Cayman today. Both regular models (non S). I'm not planning on buying anytime soon (next year maybe), but not having driven either of these before I wanted to see what they were like.

I did like the Cayman better in terms of styling, cargo space, and in driving. Totally placebo effect I'm sure but I felt better connected to the road and safer knowing there was car above me.

One thing that bothered me though was a wind buffeting type noise. Not so much a sound but a pressure feeling. It occurred at low speeds over bumps mostly and only when the windows were all closed. Also seemed to occur at certain RPMs. As near as I can figure, it must be coming from the trunk lid or back window bouncing or vibrating and creating a pressure wave sort of like a giant subwoofer.

Anyone else felt this or I am just insane?

Pat

You're nuts. OK, not really, but I don't remember this in my brother's Cayman S. I do remember a resonance in my '99 Boxsters, but everything else is just "sports car stuff".

I've posted Cayman questions here before...but it would be nice if there were a proper Caymen section! Maybe this section should be renamed "The New Middies".

Nope, I've noticed it too.

Seems to be common in the new cars until the seal gets settled. There is also a provision while the car is going through PDI to have the hatch adjusted.

Was also a problem in the 924, 944, 968, and 996 targa

Thanks for the input guys.

Doug, hopefully we'll run into each other at an event one of these days. Do you do any DE/AX events with OVR or SCCA?

I haven't yet. Julie and I are mostly social / casual fun stuff when it comes to the PCA. But mostly I'm afraid...afraid that once I start, I'll be one of those slipper slope guys who can't get enough of it. And that will just be the beginning of the end.

But you may still see me (us) around!
