Problems after repair

I have 2 problems after a repair. We had a new clutch, pressure plate, and air filter installed by our 911 mechanic.

When we got it back we noticed that the horizontal part of steering wheel is now canted to the left. A friend said this was due to the carrier frame not being installed in it's original position causing the rear alignment to be out. Is this true.

The bigger problem is when the car has been sitting it blows so much white smoke on start up. If it sits for 10-15 minutes, it still blows white smoke on start up, just not as much. I know this can be caused by oil seeping into the intake caused by overfilling. The oil was not changed and the mechanic said he didn't add any. Could he have disturbed something when he changed the air filter? Anything else to check.
thanks in advance.

4 wheel alignment should take care of the first issue.

As for the second issue, it could be several reasons for this, however first thing that I would check is the oil separator.

The white smoke problem is most likely the oil separator is bad. Very easy to check this is pull the dipstick with engine running or oil cap&measure the amount of suction here . It should be very little. This is a common failure on the M96 engines. Will cause them to smoke on startup. Howard
