Automatic Window Switch Function

I've done a search, and found nothing that relates to my current bugaboo.... Which is that the auto up/down window function has just stopped working on the passenger side. Driver's side works as it's supposed to. Yesterday, I disconnected the neg battery terminal, to clear a CEL (O2 sensor), but that's the only thing I touched. Car is an '00 986'S' w/ 51k miles. Any suggestions?
Best,
Andy

There is a procedure to re-teach the window the auto up/down feature. IIRC you lower the window completely and hold the down button for an additional ~5 seconds and then raise the window completely and hold the button up for ~5 seconds. You may need to do this for a couple of cycles for it to work.
I have never done this and may be completely off my rocker.
Let us know how it works.

I have also read the MY 97 does not have this auto up/down feature on the passenger side. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks, Aron. I did this procedure and can confirm that what you're saying is indeed true for my '00 'S'. Give it a try and perhaps your rt side will work like the left one...

But on my '00 Tundra; only the driver's side has this auto-down feature.

interesting, thank you. is this procedure documented in one of the Boxster owner manuals? my manuals do not appear to have this info. would you know if there is some similar procedure for the convertable top raise/lower toggle? my toggle occasionally does nothing at all when held down. i am just beginning to research what to look for on this issue( just purchassed this car recently ). thanks.

Raleigh5,

This is just a guess, but your top issue sounds more like a sensor issue, either in the parking brake or the top latch located above the window.

Check to make sure the brake light on the dash is lit while raising/lower the top. If it's not illuminating all the time the sensor in the parking brake handle assembly may be going bad.

If it's the sensor in the latch above the window try sticking you finger in the top latch receiving pocket above the rear-view mirror to and see if it helps.

I am not writing from personal experience on these issues, only passing on info that I've picked up from other forums.

renntech.org has a sub-forum on Boxster top issued and solutions.

Let us know how it works out.

Regards,
Aron
