98 Boxster 986 wheel sizes for 18" rims

98 Boxster 986 wheel sizes for 18" rims

My stock wheels are

17 x 7 -- 55 offset
205/50zr17

17 x 8.5 -- 50 offset
255/40zr17

What 18" wheels and tires could be used?

um all 18" wheels used on all 986 boxsters could be used. Mine came with 7.5x18 and 9x18 "sport design" wheels. "twist" style wheels also came in 18". As did the "classics" and the "lightweights".

I have a 986 Boxster.

I have updated the 17" wheels to 18".

I went with 8"x18 front and 10"x18" rear. Everything worked well.

Thanks for the reply.

IIRC, the 8/10s are from a 996. Not sure what tire size and rideheights you have, but I know folks who have run into occasional rubbing using the 996 wheels.

Good luck though and nice to see someone come back and update their thread!

Additional Information

The rear wheels needed a 7mm to 15mm spacer with longer studs. The back of the wheel touched the strut before the spacer.

The front wheels had no rubbing or problems.

Ride height is stock.
